The Virginia Employment Commission (VEC)'s mission is to provide workforce services that promote maximum employment to enhance the economic stability of Virginia.  Our workforce services include the following:

  • Employer Services: Post a job listing on line at no cost. Or, receive assistance from a local VEC office in finding qualified candidates to fill your jobs.  We are the first to know when quality workers lose their jobs.

  • Job Seeker Services: Provides employment assistance, access to thousands of job listings, and information on resources available at your local VEC office to help with your job search.

  • Unemployment Insurance Services: The VEC administers a variety of programs that provide temporary income for workers who have become unemployed through no fault of their own. An initial or continued unemployment claim can be filed on line or at any VEC local office. Employers can get help with their unemployment tax questions.

  • Labor Market Information: The VEC provides economic, demographic, and occupational information necessary for making important business decisions.

  • Virginia Workforce Network: Provides information on the Workforce Investment Act and the Virginia Workforce Council as well as access to a wide range of employment and training services.
