The Fredericksburg Department of Social Services provides quality and timely social and financial services to eligible families and individuals in Fredericksburg City. Services and benefits provided by the Department promote economic and social self-sufficiency and provide protection and support to families, children and adults. These services and benefits are provided in such a manner that protects the value and dignity of the individual and the family. The City of
Fredericksburg Department of Social Services adheres to an individual's
right of self-determination. The Department's clients are, therefore,
informed of services available to enhance his/her functional capacity as
an individual, family member, and resident of the community. Respect for
the dignity of the individual, as a person capable of choosing appropriate
means to alleviate correctable conditions and problems experienced in
