The Fredericksburg Area Workforce Group was founded in 2004 to provide employment assistance and workforce resources in the Fredericksburg Region.  

Characterized by a diverse set of managerial, professional, and technical skills, the workforce in the Fredericksburg Region boasts educational attainment levels that surpass the national average, and that have been on a steady rise throughout the decade. Consider these statistics about the Fredericksburg Region:
  • A workforce with over twice as many bachelors degrees as the national average and one of America's highest concentration of PhDs.
  • Home to 75,000 workers, with 909,000 more in our 40 mile commute zone and another 50% who commute. 
  • A 4% annual population increase that is among the highest in the country, and Virginia's fastest growing region.
  • An advanced local school system with many technical training, fast-track, and incentive programs; continuing education and graduate programs.
  • A wide range of housing options from suburban to rural to historic to modern.
  • Countless recreational and lifestyle choices from natural resources to historic sites, golf, shopping, dining, & culture.

In addition, there are three strategic military facilities in the area (Marine Corps Base Quantico, Naval Surface Center Dahlgren, and Army Ft. A.P. Hill), the F.B.I. Academy, and over 30 major employers such as Geico, Capital One, Intuit, Hilldrup Moving & Storage, CVS, and McLane Mid-Atlantic.
